About

A program of the City of Santa Cruz Department of Economic Development and Redevelopment, Santa Cruz City Arts works with the Arts Commission, partners and stakeholders to guide implementation and management of the public art and mural programs, City Arts Master Plan and other cultural planning initiatives.
The public art program is dedicated to bringing creativity to the streetscape through a diversity of placemaking projects, including temporary, permanent, temporal, small-scale and large scale installations. The public art program also receives and processes gifts and manages the public art collection. The City’s Public Art Master Plan (1999) functions as the program’s guiding document, the Arts Commission acts as the guiding body and funding is partially obtained through the City’s ordinance which sets-aside 2% of eligible CIP projects for public art. Program staffing is one person, part-time.
